The University of Delaware's Academy of Lifelong Learning is a membership organization that provides opportunities for adults 50 and over to learn, teach, and travel with their peers. Members plan and teach the Academy's wide variety of classes. Classes are held at Arsht Hall on the University's Wilmington Campus, 2700 Pennsylvania Avenue. Classes take place in the daytime, and there are no grades, exams, or prerequisites.
At the Academy of Lifelong Learning, instructors teach subjects they love to students who are there for the love of learning. Each semester over 200 courses are offered on topics including history, literature, religion, ten different languages, chorus, band, orchestra, recorder, social sciences, physical sciences, yoga, T'ai Chi, folk dance and painting.
Based on a learning cooperative model, the program is developed by members and utilizes their varied talents and wealth of experiences. More than 700 members volunteer in a variety of capacities. The Academy was founded in 1980.
