A 7-month pilot study is underway to see if retired Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) professionals can effectively work together with teachers to design classroom learning activities that will enhance science education. The initiative based in Philadelphia but involving at least one school in Delaware is sponsored by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, a national nonprofit, and Temple University's Experience Corps (a volunteer program for 50+ adults). The STEM volunteers will receive an initial training and then meet with teachers in planning workshops to design experiential activities and classroom projects. For more information about "Mentors for STEM" email Robert Tietze at tietze@temple.edu or call 215-204-8057.

  • No One Dies Alone - Sit with patients when no family or friends are present.
  • GetWellNetwork - Help patients navigate the hospital's state-of-the-art TV/computer/internet system which is being installed in
every patient room at the hospital.
  • ACE Unit (Acute Care of the Elderly) -Visit or play games with patients in this 14-bed unit for the elderly.
